WAKTU BAKU PENGOLAHAN INCOMING MAIL SURAT KILAT KHUSUS DI PT POS INDONESIA (KANTOR POS CILEGON 42400) DENGAN METODE TIME STUDY

Abstract

1. Pos Indonesia (Post Office Cilegon), is one of the state-owned companies, primarily focus on mail and goods delivery services with the largest service network and spread across Indonesia. PT. Pos Indonesia offers a wide range of mail and goods delivery service types, one of which is a special express mail product. Activities that undertaken in the service process at the Post Office Cilegon such as incoming and outgoing mail. In the incoming mail activity, there are several problems occurred, as the lack of human resources to process the mails, with the result of the accumulation unprocessed items and there is no standard time to complete all incoming mails.

In this research, problem can be solved by using Time Study method. Time Study was introduced by Iftikar Z. Sutalaksana in 2006. Time Study is used to determine the standard time to complete all activities, the frequency of work that can be done by employees, and the optimization the number of employees for the incoming mail activity.

From the calculation, it is resulted the total time standard to complete incoming mail activity equal to 396,49 seconds. While the frequency of work that can be completed are: loading and unloading bags as much as 57 times, scanning the bag as much as 1,256 times, disassembling and match bag content with the manifest of 80 times, sorting items by region equal to 73 times, scanning barcode rishi contained in letters shipment of 756 times, and the manufacture and laying the Delivery Order of 244 times. While optimizing the number of employees to complete the incoming mail activity at the Post Office Cilegon equal to 2 employees per each activity.
