Abstract

Competition in the global market increasingly tight lead a company wants to find a way to be able to meet the needs of its customers. Continuous improvement in the quality of the product is an obligation and an important part of a company's business strategy. So it is with PT Goodrich PINDAD Aeronautical Systems Indonesia which has a goal to produce good quality products at competitive prices. This research was conducted at PT Goodrich PINDAD Aeronautical Systems Indonesia is located on Jl. Jend.Gatot Subroto No. 517 Bandung. The products were observed that constitute Aileron aircraft components manufactured by PT Pindad Goodrich Aeronautical Systems Indonesia with zero defect standard. The variables studied were defects that occur in the process of machining and plating processes. Six Sigma is an approach that can help to better focus on improving product quality close to perfect. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not exceed than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. To measure and respond to a performance, then used the Six Sigma model, that define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC). In the define phase, is the determination of the object and its goals as well as the selection of research critical to quality (CTQ) of the object selected. While the measure phase, carried pernghitungan Sigma value with the value DPMO. In the analyze phase, analyzing the process capability and identify the cause of the defect. In the improve phase, carried out the determination of the corrective action. Lastly, the phase control to analyze the changes in the value of sigma and DPMO. The results showed the performance of the manufacturing process have high Aileron product DPMO sigma level of 8344 and amounted to 3,893. Factors influencing these results are due to the machine, the operator, material, work environment, and methods to improve it should be to reform the factors - these factors.
