Abstract

PT Pos Indonesia (Post Office Cilegon), is one of the state-owned company engaged in mail and goods delivery services which has the widest service network and spread throughout Indonesia. PT Pos Indonesia offers a wide range of products in delivering mail and goods, one of the services is special delivery letter. Activities which undertaken in processing part in Cilegon Post Office include incoming mail and outgoing mail. In the normal incoming mail, there are some problems such lack of human resources to process mail delivery, resulting cumulation of letters swhich are not processed and the absence of standard time to complete the entire shipment of the incoming mail.

In this sresearch, the troubleshooting method is Time Study. Time Study introduced by Z. Iftikar Sutalaksana in 2006. Time Study is used to determine the standard time to complete the whole activity, determine the frequency of work that can be done by employees, as well as the optimization of the employees number to determine the activity of incoming mail.

From the calculation, the total time to complete the activity standards for incoming mail at 396.49 seconds. While the frequency of work that can be completed namely: unloading the bag 57 times, scanning the bag label as much as 1256 times, demolition and matching the contents of the bag with a manifest of 80 times, the sorting of items by region across by 73 times, scanning a barcode receipt contained in the shipment letter by 756 times, and the manufacture and print Delivery Order for 244 times. While optimizing the number of employees to complete the activity incoming mail at the Post Office Cilegon by 2 employees per each activity.
